Klaud works across architecture, urban design, exhibition design and art production.

We love cities and the culture that results from living together. We are led by the desire to improve the way we live together and committed to making our surroundings a better, more inclusive and enjoyable environment for everyone. This is also reflected in our approach to making those changes happen in the most sustainable way possible. We have developed a sense for sustainability which fosters careful consideration of people, processes, materials, and a culture of ‘looking-after’ which starts when a project is completed.

Together with our team and our clients Klaud has built up extensive knowledge in designing and managing large & small scale architecture and urban design projects. One area of focus is art-centric projects, which include exhibition architecture, museum & gallery design, art installations & production and working in close collaboration with artists and curators. Another key focus are public space projects, which includes developing cultural and public realm strategies and their implementation. The studio's expertise also reaches historic building renovations as well as residential construction and refurbishments.

Klaud - Koepf Lechthaler Architecture and Urban Design - was founded by Sebastian Koepf and Andreas Lechthaler and formerly known as Andreas Lechthaler Architecture (ALA).

Andreas Lechthaler
Andreas brings a wealth of expertise spanning architecture and urban design, with a distinct focus on the contemporary art context. His collaborative approach with national and international cultural institutions, artists, and curators underscores his commitment to creating transformative spatial experiences. Andreas has played a pivotal role in leading large-scale refurbishments within historic landmark buildings in London and Los Angeles for gallery Sprüth Magers, demonstrating his proficiency in seamlessly integrating architectural interventions within culturally significant environments.
His architectural expertise extends to shaping the architecture of prominent solo and group exhibitions at international institutions and festivals, including Tai Kwun (Hong Kong), Hayward Gallery (London), Wellcome Collection (London), the Biennale of Sydney, and Gropius Bau (Berlin).
Andreas’s collaboration with Swiss artist Pipilotti Rist in translating her vision into architectural expression reflects his passion for bridging art and architecture to create immersive environments.
Andreas’s approach is grounded in his keen interest in crafting holistic environments and spaces, where the interplay between existing structures and innovative design enhances the human experience and fosters meaningful interaction.

As a UK qualified architect, Andreas pursued his architectural studies in Florence (IT) and Munich (DE) before establishing Andreas Lechthaler Architecture (ALA) in 2009.

Sebastian Koepf
Sebastian possesses extensive expertise in leading public space and architecture projects for diverse private and public clients. His career trajectory includes pivotal roles in renowned landscape architecture firms and architecture practices, contributing significantly to various urban and cultural endeavours. Notably, Sebastian collaborated with landscape architect Martha Schwartz before assuming a pivotal position at Burns+Nice in 2005.
In working with Andreas Lechthaler since 2017 marked a significant milestone in Sebastian’s career, where he assumed a pivotal role in leading a series of highly successful exhibition design projects alongside Andreas.
These projects exemplify Sebastian’s creative vision and strategic acumen in creating immersive cultural experiences that resonate with diverse audiences. His contributions extended beyond exhibition design to encompass gallery refurbishments, museum strategies, and private residential developments, underscoring his multifaceted approach to architectural practice.
Of particular note is Sebastian’s role in shaping the Soho Photography Quarter public space and cultural strategy, a testament to his profound understanding of the intersection between urban environments and cultural vibrancy.
