Pipilotti Rist: Jordlys Og Pingpong Med Solen
DMJX Danish School of Media and Journalism, Aarhus (DK)

Permanent choreographed video installation animating the school’s communal spaces
Jordlys og pingpong med solen (Earthlight and Ping-Pong with the Sun) is a large, permanent video installation by Pipilotti Rist for the new Danish School of Media and Journalism by Arkitema.

The artwork consists of four projections within the communal spaces of the building, a 108m2 colourful curtain of vintage fabrics and a large disco ball in the canteen.

The video projections are linked with the building's general lighting systems and choreographed for changing times and events. The colourful, multi-layered videos only come on for short times to create interesting and changing environments.
We assisted the artist and her team in finding the right locations for the artworks, analysing the building and its structure. Following the spatial design we have been providing the necessary technical drawings and calculations to allow for the projections onto 3D shapes like tables, plants or staircases.
