Pipilotti Rist: Sparkling Pond, Bold Coloured Groove & Tender Fire
Central Park, Sydney (AU)

Developing and implementing a permanent public art installation involving video bubbles and coloured glass sun catchers

The wall of coloured glass referencing the colours found in the intense Australian sunshine and lush vegetation. The window is back lit at night which gives the otherwise dark plain space a warm and friendly feeling. The projected video art animates the space and its visitors with urban electronic bonfires. In Pipilotti’s words “I want to use space to bring people together. Under the lights people can meet, dance and speak”.

The infrastructure required to create the artwork is hidden within the ceiling of the undercroft. We assisted the artist in realising her vision, creating the technical design and drawings and producing a maintenance manual for the various elements.
We helped identify and recruit the specialist subcontractors needed for the project and developed a comprehensive maintenance plan that will ensure the long-term durability of the installation.
